DJ Carmel Love Presents 1st Shot in da Dark
Frenchie 1017 Bricksquad
HONESTY, INTEGRITY, and HARD WORK: not only a general recipe for success, but a trifecta of attributes as rare together as they are individually uncommon. In a renegade breed, much of those aspects are still present. That rare breed, reared in South Jamaica, Queens, includes Frenchie 1017; Bricksquad member, Atlanta-transplant, a Queens representer – and the hardest-working artist out right now. ONESTY, INTEGRITY, and HARD WORK: not only a general recipe for success, but atrifecta of attributes as rare together as they are individually uncommon. In a renegade breed, much of those aspects are still present. That rare breed, reared in South Jamaica, Queens, includes Frenchie 1017; Bricksquad member, Atlanta-transplant, a Queens representer – and the hardest-working artist out right nowBorn and raised in the much-maligned, yet-highly-glorified crack epidemic of the late 80’s and early 90’s, Frenchie lived through what many of us only read about: the depreciation of an entire neighborhood (Southside, Queens) into one of history’s most dangerous, rugged, and unsafe stretches of skull-cracked pavement and harsh realities to ever exist.Frenchie’s crossroads – Merrick & Linden – provided a first- Hand account into the annals of hustler history.
“To be honest, I grew up around a lot of ignorance. The older people that I looked up to, they were jackers; robbers. I was a part of it, too; but I always wanted more.” Frenchie displays a brutal honesty in describing his come up; and an uncontained, raw emotion that is undoubtedly a showcase of the final offspring of a rare breed: “I didn’t want that nine-to-five,” he continues. “I always wanted more”.Using music as a path to achievement, fourth-grade ciphers graduated to sixth-grade battles, and circumstantial yet pre-destined familial ties led to music as the only career option. “My family runs deep – my cousin Bimmy used to be an A&R at Def Jam, and DJ Hurricane – my uncle – was the Beastie Boys’ DJ.” Add that to the fact that Deborah Antney, mother & manager to Wacka Flocka, is his aunt, and you see how Frenchie wasn’t left with much of a choice – succeed in music, or stay in the hood. What separatesFrenchie from his peers, though, are two seemingly trivial, but actually monumental tidbits: his constant travel back and forth from Atlanta, and his raw focus, energy, and determination.
“I’m always up for an adventure. I was one of the only ones from my ‘hood to hop on the train; to see Brooklyn, to see the Bronx. I been through the Carolinas, Virginia – I spent half my life in Atlanta.” But the remembrance of Southside – its vitality, its vigor, its corruption, and ruggedness – instilled in the twenty-six year old an unparallel work ethic – to get rich, or die tryin’.As far as Frenchie’s influences go, apart from a few out-of-towners, the home base is well-represented: “Gucci, that’s my boy. Banks, 50 Cent, Yayo – those are dudes from my neighborhood, and they made it out. LL Cool J, some of the older cats…and One Republic. I love so much different type of music, it’s a shame!” As far as concepts, the answer isn’t what you’d expect, but signifies an innate intelligence, tremendous foresight, and the result of exposure to different: different music, different cultures, and different regions. “My style is universal. I’ll go wherever the tempo takes me…the concepts come from the beats. Certain beats speak to my soul. It has to feel live.” A constant tour de force of videos, work, and tours, Frenchie’s Internet presence is a sight to behold: a quick WorldStar search brings forth over forty self-produced music videos, and his YouTube presence includes videos spanning back several years, and millions of collective views.“The Internet is the number-one promotional tool in the world. Children have so much technology nowadays, that they don’t even have to come outside.
They can just stay indoors and have fun.” Maintaining this momentum, though, is a constant struggle for a 21st-century entertainer, as Frenchie elaborates: “The grind is the toughest part. It’s beautiful when the music is out, and they vibe to it. But the hard part – you gotta wake up early, everyday, after barely sleeping for days on end, to go to the studio to fine-tune, edit, and break day. Sometimes, I wanna close my eyes and sleep, but I’d never allow myself to do that – not till I’m in a coffin. I work hard, I go hard.” Showing no signs of slowing up, Frenchie’s onslaught will continue with the release of The Concrete Jungle, a mixtape hosted by DJ Holiday, fresh on the heels of Bringin’ Gangsta Back, hosted by DJ Trapaholics. Having done features with a broad range of Southern stars (Juicy J, Project Pat, Yung Joc, Gorilla Zoe, Soulja Boy), family members (Gucci Mane, Wacka Flocka, Wooh Da Kid), and East Coast up-and-comers (French Montana, John Depp, Webstar, and the late G. Baby), Frenchie’s groundwork has laid a solid, universal foundation. Success is only a step away.Born and raised in the much-maligned, yet-highly-glorified crack epidemic of the late 80’s and early 90’s, Frenchie lived through what many of us only read about: the depreciation of an entire neighborhood (Southside, Queens) into one of history’s most dangerous, rugged, and unsafe stretches of skull-cracked pavement and harsh realities to ever exist.Frenchie’s crossroads – Merrick & Linden – provided a first- hand account into the annals of hustler history. “To be honest, I grew up around a lot of ignorance. Stichiz
Born in Ottawa, Canada raised in Broward County, Florida. This college graduate of Haitian decent adds the seasoning needed to the Hip-Hop culture and industry with power. At the age of 9 this vivacious young lady took over the mic like a young female tongue twisting speed monster. Now she’s tongue twisting, flipping and mixing Hip-Hop lyrics in English, Creole, French, and Reggae, leaving her audience in a mouth dropping AHHHH, begging for an “Encore”. Her look is sexy, smart, and stylish. Her tactic and strategy is very diverse, from the ability to give you the energy needed to jump up and break dance, to just kicking it back in a zone of mediation and heart felt emotion.
The public relation, motivating, and leadership skills rooted in Renee Bianca Casseus, (Stichiz), are incontestable; just ask NAACP Florida State Conference Secretary and Ft. Lauderdale Youth Council Advisor Gwen Watson, who’s really representing the youth of the South. As a Senior at Florida Atlantic University double majoring in Communication Arts/Political Science and minoring in Commercial Music, she is infamous for her character and leadership, how?...Humm let’s see…by being Florida Atlantic University’s 2010 Humanitarian Winner, The University’s voted Most Talented, Most Likely to be Famous and Most Likely to be the Next Obama award winner, Promotion Director and Owl Radio’s hottest on-air personality not to mention her community involving ranging from being the Youth Board Chair of the Broward Martian Luther King Celebration Committee, Alpha Kappa Psi Business Fraternity member, Political Action Chair for the Ft. Lauderdale NAACP Youth Council, CEO of Draztik Meazures Entertainment and NAACP Florida State Conference Youth & College Division President and much, much more… that’s how. Stichiz does it all. Her humble, positive attitude attracts and attaches everyone to her, if you ever get a chance to meet Ms. Casseus you can expect to be greeted like you’ve made her day.
But please don’t be fooled by this female artist who may appear to be innocent. Stichiz is a natural born hustler, there is no job too big or too small- just give her the word and you can consider it a done deal! It seems that we have our very own Hip-Hop congresswoman in the making, and many will vouch for her. Community leader by day Entertainer by day, honorable scholar by day, Promotions Director, and Peer mentor by day, loved and respected by day and all of the above by night. It’s no wonder they call her Stichiz, just take the best qualities from all the extraordinary people in your life, put all these qualities in a bag, stitch these qualities into a human being and last but not least you’ve just been introduced to Renee-Bianca Casseus (a.k.a. Stichiz).
Bryson Hill
Bryson Keyshawn Hill, known to his growing fan base as just Bryson, is an up and coming Houston bred new school rapper. Born to Deshawn and Cedric “ESG” Hill, it’s no wonder at the tender age of 11 he is musically inclined beyond his years. However, Bryson is no stranger to wonders and determination. Born weighing in only 1lb, his premature birth predicted many physical complications and not much clinical hope of survival. Bryson showed his strength through determination and fought the high odds against him.
Growing up with the likes of ESG as a father, music has always been a part of Bryson’s life. Music studios were his day care since the age of two and listening to his father’s lyrics became his nursery rhymes. By the time Bryson was three he had already recited his very first rhyme and landed his first feature on his father’s mixtape, “Family Business”.
His mini feature received huge acclaim starting a quick buzz around Houston. Many couldn’t believe the age of Bryson and questioned if it really was him and not ghost writing. ESG knew this was a possibility and taught his son the art of free styling. When releases of Bryson free styles dropped his fan base began to grow beyond Houston, TX.
He’s been performing since the age of 5 and in the past year he has performed live on 97.9, Damage C Whenontol, Optimo and other various local stations such as “The Los Magnificos Car Show” and “The Dub Car Show”. He has even taken part in a charity-based concert to raise money for Haiti opening for recording artist Bun B.
Between excelling in school and hanging around the studio, Bryson perfected his creativity through his unique style and flow. With the guidance of his father keeping him a level headed kid, his music is a reflection of his life. It appeals to his generation and can still make the older generations bop.
Bryson is currently working on his first mixtape “Miracle Baby” due for release in late April. Repaying back the favor, ESG is featured on Bryson’s mixtape; along with various artists such as Short Dawg of Young Money.

| Description: Unique and soulful is the only words to describe soul singer Gina Carey. Her style is R&B/ Urban Soul with a jazzy touch | ||||
| Biography: Unique and soulful is the only words to describe soul singer Gina Carey. Although many have compared Gina Carey to Broadway's sensation and recording artist Stephanie Mills, she has her own sound and style that can easily be identified in all of her recordings. Throughout Gina's musical career, she has written and recorded 3 independently released gospel CD's (In His Time, Changes & Tell Um) and 2 soulful albums, "My Journey" and her latest "Melodic". Gina began her professional recording career in 1996 with her first release "In His Time" selling over 10,000 copies nationwide. In 2006, Gina was nominated by the Black Music Academy Association of America in two categories: "Best Gospel Performer - Female" and "Gospel Rising Star".She performed at the event, held at the Cashman Theater, before a full house and won the "Las Vegas Black Music Awards 2006 Best Gospel Performer - Female" award. Later that year, she auditioned for NBC's America's Got Talent. In 2007, She also performed at the first EURWEB awards with Lee Bailey and in that same year, Gina auditioned for the Hit TV show *Showtime at the Apollo* and impressed the judges so much that she was invited twice to be a guest on the show filmed in Harlem, New York. In 2008 BET J aired her "True Love" music video on the morning Cup show. Her most recent album entitled "Melodic" was the first and only CD that was written, arranged & composed by Gina. Her multi talented husband and recording artist Urban Soul Guitarist "JOHN CAREY" produced the "Melodic" CD and is also featured on this album as the lead guitarist. The sensual soulful sound of Gina Carey meets the electrifying/ funky jazz lead guitarist contributions of her husband, urban soul Guitarist John Carey on all 10 songs on Gina's album. Gina celebrates her fifth release with 10 new songs that put you back in the old school sounds of the early 80's era. This CD includes 4 soulful mid tempo love ballads "Loving You", "Share My Life", "Don't ever Let Me Go" and "Unbelievable", 2 the fun, funky soulful up tempo tracks" Red Hat" and the old school up tempo disco jam "Without you" and 4 inspirational songs "I Care" ,Life Is More "Don't You Give Up", and "A Change" a powerful song about the worlds crises and the hope for the future. After being in hiatus for almost four years, Gina's husband was the inspiration behind this phenomenal project. "I wasn't planning on recording anytime soon. I think I was becoming comfortable with just being a wife and singing backgrounds on my husband's new CD "New Beginnings", but my husband continued to encourage me to not give up on my passion to sing. So "Melodic" was born through that experience.” With a new love and a fresh perspective, John & Gina were able to create a masterpiece. Gina was born on October 17 in Chicago, Illinois and spent her formative years growing up in Los Angeles, CA. She now resides in Palm Springs, CA. "I came up with the name Melodic because people are always telling me that my music is very soothing and smooth so I thought I would name this CD "Melodic" because of the pleasant sounding melodies comprised on this album. I started singing around 8 years and singing has been my passion every since. My musical influences were Gladys Knight, Denise Williams, Minnie Riperton, Billy Holiday, and Stevie Wonder. I grew up listening to real music. Singers in those days made you feel really something. I love the raw vocals and real singing from the soul. That's the type of music I enjoy writing and performing." Gina has performed all over the United States and has shared the stage with many well established celebrities and will be touring throughout US this year with her husband John Carey. Zac Fresh
Born and raised in Columbus OH, Zachary Muhumad a.k.a. Zac Fresh didn’t necessarily have an easy childhood. Born June 30, to an African-American mother and a Somalian (in which he speaks fluently) father, this young, talented, and “fresh” 16 year-old had to learn and defend for himself at an early age. At just the tender age of 7, Zac lost his mother. He found this time to be very difficult for him because he believed that was an age where a child needed his mother the most. Without the love and support of his mother, Zac found comfort and developed a passion for something that began to matter the most to him…music. At the ripe age of 13, Zac accomplished something that most kids his age can only dream about. Zac met and recorded a song with one of today’s biggest rap hit makers, Soulja Boy Tell Em. They recorded a song entitled “Ride Real Low” together and soon after, Zac found himself touring and traveling the country with Soulja Boy.

BLOCK 4 BLOCK
While Hip-Hop is drowning in karaoke with generic artists that continue to send the wrong message to today’s consumers, comes Block 4 Block to restore quality and creativity exactly what the game has been missing. Block 4 Block is a Miami based (BUT NOT LOCAL) rap group that is here to deliver an innovative style to the world.
The group was started in 2004 with just two members Slim-Dogg and Peter Blaize, having an extensive history behind the scenes in the industry. These newcomers bring the poise of a veteran rap group with the ability to craft musical compositions inspired by all genre’s of the world; rapid fire, delivering melodic, soulful, introspective and festive energy pack anthems to keep you moving and grooving from the perspective of a multicultural city.
Slim-Dogg was born the oldest of 3 children on March 5, 1984 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. He then came to Miami Fl at the age of three years old. Fresh from another country he faced many obstacles that made him who he is today. He say’s “Man this was a long road,” I aint know a lick of English when I got here as a child, but a couple of “cat in the hat Dr. Suess books” later I mastered this talk game.” While attending North Miami Middle school, Slim-Dogg found a passion for writing poetry, he says “you know, I just wanted the girls back then, and they loved hearing’ sum of that poetry, so dat was my approach n they loved it!” It was not until Slim-Dogg’s 7th grade year that his teacher told him he should try using his poetry to actually build and write music, he says “dats sum of the best advice I ever got was when my teacher in junior high told me I should focus on music, ever since then no one can get me out the booth. I’m focused, n I just wanna let ya’ll know... it’s on!”
Peter Blaize is a man on a mission, a mission that started in the small Caribbean island of Guadeloupe, born third of 4 children, the attention needed was not given to the middle child which forced him to evolve his creativity. While living in his native home the music that would change his life reached him from the streets of New York, Los Angeles, and Miami via satellite and summer vacations to the east coast. Although the music expanded Blaize’s worldview it was not until he learned to speak English at the age of 9 when moving to Miami that same year in 1994. It wasn’t long before the streets caught up with Blaize. Growing up in Miami in the 90’s was a rough time for everyone, especially the son of a Haitian immigrant. The schoolyard insults turned to fights, the fights turned to crime. “The daily test we had to pass gave us all a strong bond and a sense of pride,” says Blaize when speaking about growing up in the Miami Dade County area. Highly influenced by the greats who’ve touched the microphone such as Tupac Shakur, Bone Thugs & Harmony, and Scarface, just to name a few he officially began writing rhymes in 97 after meeting a mutual friend that would later introduce him to Slim Dogg.
The duo is a part of a collective of inspiring artist’s who were locally known as G.B.6. After branching out in order to expand and explore new levels of success, honing their skills and paying dues in various aspect of the industry from paper work to writing rhymes even manning the boards when the time calls and the list goes on. “Those years were like school we learn a lot from all the situation’s and position’s we were blessed with,” says the duo. Block 4 Block decided that its time to unleash the best kept secret of the Miami music scene prepping their debut L.P. “ WISH YOU WERE HERE “ and “Debut Single: Never Come Down” inspired by the movie “Get them to the Greeks” supplying high quality material such as the Dangerous Mind’s mix-tape series as well as individual project from Slim-Dogg and Peter Blaize. Leaving the fans salivating for Hip-Hop served gourmet style “Bonne Appetite”.

How would you classify your music?
“I would hate to ever have to classify any of it! My music is a part of me, the way I feel & the experiences I undergo – so it’s ever changing; & so should every artists music undergo growth. But I’m sure to keep my ears to the industry; part of the magic of being an artist is making music people will react to. So you’ll always hear the ‘classification’ of my music change.”

Mistah JV
J'Von Ogletree, a 23 year old Dallas artist, is pursuing his dream and goal to show the world that Dallas is capable of being more than a "ringtone city". Born and raised in Oakcliff, Texas to a single parent, J'Von sought out sports and music as the best way to stay out of trouble, and stay in school and off the streets. His Mother eventually moved past her separation and like any kid, J'Von began to realize his father wasn't in the picture. His stepfather stepped in and played a big part in his childhood. Witnessing his mother, and how she never really talked about her problems or asked for anything, J'Von quickly lost a dependency of others. Instead of talking or acting out the anger and frustration inside, he began writing poetry and raps.
He attended many different schools in the South Texas region and freshman year attended Skyline High school. As his freshman year ended, J'Von received a call from his father
encouraging him to move to Houston, Texas. Pervious summer visits to Houston had J'Von excited to be around his older brother, so he moved, not knowing his brother would eventually be moving back to Dallas shortly there after.
Now in NW Houston, JV began to make new acquaintances and attended Cypress Ridge High School. J'Von began writing with a group who called themselves "da crown". It wasn't until they moved out of state when JV began recording music with who was then B.T.E (Big Thangs Ent.). This move made a huge altercation between both groups with JV stuck in the middle. After seeing his name being mentioned one too many times, JV became part of B.T.E and lashed out...Influenced by Twista, JV became known as the fast rapper in the group "I guess they liked it". Eventually the altercation died.
Missing Dallas and his family, JV backed his bags and was Dallas bound. J’Von noticed the “big” dance music movement, so he took what came natural to him and began to make music with material and substance about every day life and personal stories. "First time recording in Houston, showed me a different style of rap so I put it all together…I want to thank Houston for that"
Influenced by Mr. Lucci and Mr. Pookie as Dallas rappers, Mos Def, Common, Goodie Mob(Dungeon Family), Outkast, 2pac, Biggie, Ludacris and Scarface. [just to name a few] "I listen to all types of music and Im young but my family made sure I knew what [[REAL MUSIC]] was and where it originally started"
"When people hear me rap, I like the fact that they can't tell where I'm from, it gives me the audience I want and need to not be just another Dallas rapper...I'll rap to just about anything"

Gripping the Faucet
Do You Remember Yesterday
J-SLIMM aka STAR OF THE SHOW
James “J-Slimm” Camps, was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. He is the oldest of 3 children, with a younger brother and sister who were raised by their hardworking mother alone, as his father passed away when he was fairly young. Growing up James did what he could do, to help his mother make sure the family had what they needed to get by. But one regular afternoon, while listening to the local urban radio station, we he soon have a life changing opportunity. The local radio station held a contest that would change James Camps into “J-Slimm” aka “The Star of the Show”. A radio station in Dallas, Texas held a contest; whoever had the hottest flow, the most diverse sound and had the ability to write a song that others could relate to, would have the chance to open for some of the most influential rap artist at that time. J-Slimm won that radio contest with his song titled “I’m Lookin’ For A Bad Chic” and was the opening act for Trae the Truth, Lil Flip, Big Tuck and Chingo Bling. That song entry is what changed J-Slimm from the path of uncertainty to path he walks today. James received the nickname “Slimm” from as he lightly laughed, “The old school cats in my neighborhood called me Slimm, so I officially became J-Slimm, and soon after, I had an extension of J-Slimm aka Star of the show. “ He said do to his outward confidence and his demanding stage presence, and his ease with the pretty ladies, his boys labeled him “The star of the show”. J-Slimm credits Master P for influencing his humble demeanor. J-Slimm says with his voice a little lower and calm, “Master P always said, put GOD 1st, your family 2nd, and your career 3rd.” J-Slimm reflects that statement in his every day life. He is as authentic; as a creative artist can be. Writing music with an entertaining, feel good, get ya butt out of the chair vibe, while possessing the ability to instantly recognize the need for his audience to relate to the hype lyrics and energetic heavy beats. In addition to the crunk, feel good aura that he poses, there is that burning desire he inherently possesses to grow and maintain respect while entertaining his audience and enjoying his craft all at the same time.

NOVAKANE
Even with his back against the wall, literally, Chicago-native Novakane never gave up on himself or his dream. While serving a 6-year stint behind bars, the versatile wordsmith may have been locked down physically; he was mentally unbound. Taking his Rap moniker from fellow inmates who marveled at his numbness to pain when he would pound on the concrete walls and iron poles to harmonize with the rhymes he had penned, the artist formally known as LS, was resurrected as Novakane. And these days, the only bars the skilled MC is concerned with are the ones he drops over beats that slap your head sideways or melodic slow burners that speak to the ladies.
While growing up on the self-described“grimy” streets of Chi-Town’s Westside, Novakane also recalls fonder memories of a time when the elder’s of the community looked out for one other, making sure the neighborhood kids attended school and immediately reprimanded them if they stepped out of line. “It was grimy but organized,” says the laidback lyricist. “Everybody was supportive as long as you were doing something positive.”
Novakane witnessed and admired rappers in his zone such as Crucial Conflict, Do or Die and Twista, who often performed free shows in the local park, which ignited a passion in the youngster. Even though he possessed the lyrical talent to rhyme, he viewed his skills as nothing more than a hobby- that is until he paid his debt to society. “I used my down time to write and work hard on my craft. I would create beats in my head and play it all out on the tables at night. I did it so much that I became great at it.” It’s no surprise that he creates soulful hood music seeped in old soul vibes being that he grew up listening to the likes of NWA, Too $hort and Ice Cube, courtesy of his father’s panache for West Coast Gangster Rap. His Billboard charting single, “Shawty Said” is a perfect example of Novakane’s distinctive odd mix of applying a range of sounds. From trunk rattling 808 and smoothed out keys, to precautionary street tales, D-boy anthems, club bangers and female-friendly joints, Novakane is giving a voice to a whole new generation.
The single was parked on the top 10 of BET’s 106 & Park’s video countdown for a solid, week which is an incredible feat for a new artist on the scene. “I was surprised with the success of ‘Shawty Said’, although the content of the song was strong and from the heart. People related to the picture I painted and the hook was catchy. I really wanted to create a single that people could relate to.” The experience of life on the streets of Chicago eventually brought the MC to Memphis, where he begin a new existence far from the pace of his old lifestyle. Upon arriving to the South, Novakane met Money By Da Pound Records (MBP) CEO Jay and the two men formed a bond over a period of time. “My main thing is loyalty and to have a real team behind me that’s not just out for a check. I decided to do business with MBP when I realized that Jay had my dreams in his heart, that’s what sold me.”
Currently in the studio working on 2 new mixtape projects entitled United Streets of America and Loyalty over Royalty, the latter being a compilation disc that will feature artists from various cities across the country including Atlanta, New York, St. Louis and Baton Rouge, Novakane is on a mission to solidify himself in the game. The 6’2” boss enlisted production heat from established beat bangers such as Carlos Broady (Mary J. Blige, Biggie, 112), DJ Squeeky (Young Jeezy, Yo Gotti, Pastor Troy), and Swizzo (Boyz N Da Hood, Gangsta Boo), to name a few.
He is also cooking up heat on the MBP collabo disc that will feature all of label artists that is guaranteed to be a classic. Knowing he is destined for greatness and following suit in pursuit of his top spot amongst the Hip-Hop ranks, Novakane’s ability to rap every rhyme in great detail is what sets him apart. “I’ve made some mistakes, I’ve taken responsibility for them and I’m pushing forward. God has given me the talent for music and I feel if I don’t use it, I’ll lose it.” And it wouldn’t be wise to bet against a man who is resistant to pain.
